LEAD SINGER STUDIO - PERFORMANCE COACHING MENTORSHIPS
PREPARE LIKE A PRO. GET MORE GIGS.

Alongside vocal lessons, I offer bespoke mentorships to selected students: practical music business and performance coaching for singers and musicians who want to work professionally, not just sing well.
This is everything they don't teach you in music school — how to lead your own band, prepare repertoire and charts, promote yourself, nail auditions, book tours, and handle the business side of a music career.
It draws on 35+ years of making a living as a singer and pianist — from rock bands to musical theatre on cruise ships, to singing in royal palaces and headlining international jazz festivals with my own music. I've learned a great deal from building my own bands and touring the world, and Lead Singer Studio is where I share it.
The more prepared you are, the more fun you'll have when you hit the stage.
Lead Singer Studio topics include:
- Building and leading your own band
- Preparing repertoire and charts
- Self-promotion and marketing for musicians
- Audition preparation
- Booking and touring
-
The practical realities of a working music career

WHY STUDY WITH ME?
Learn More, In Less Time.
I've been a professional singer, pianist, and songwriter for 35+ years, working internationally in genres as diverse as rock, musical theatre, jazz, pop, and Latin music. I've recorded five albums on various labels and continue to release singles on my own record label, Salerosa Records. You can read more on my Bio page.
My career has included decades singing on stages, in recording studios, and on international tours — spanning jazz, contemporary music, theatre, songwriting, and music education.
Students often come to me not only to improve their singing, but also to develop confidence, prepare for important performances, navigate auditions, and gain insight into the realities of working as a professional musician. My goal is to help each student find their authentic voice and develop the skills needed to express themselves with confidence and artistry.

TESTIMONIALS: WHAT STUDENTS ARE SAYING
Nancy Ruth has been a game-changer in my artistic career as a singer. Her classes are perfectly organized, with specific objectives because she knows what you need and doesn't waste a minute. Her stage presence, vocal technique, and extensive career as a singer around the world give her an edge over other modern singing teachers. She's also an excellent vocal coach who takes you to another level in your career, supporting you every step of the way on this wonderful journey of musical growth. Absolutely recommended and effective if you're looking to grow musically.
- Nuria Alcántara, jazz singer
Nancy is a very experienced teacher. I took classes with her for a year to prepare for the Jazz Vocal Conservatory exams, and Nancy helped me a lot (I got in). In both theory and harmony, as well as vocal and performance technique, Nancy gives excellent advice thanks to her experience as an artist, which she continues to develop. She requires consistency and seriousness in her classes for more efficient work. I can say that she has helped me greatly improve as a singer and performer, and I highly recommend her to students and musicians who want a quality and kind teacher like Nancy Ruth!
-Candela Vargas, jazz singer
She's an excellent teacher, with countless years of stage experience, and it shows. Plus, she works with you from the beginning to improve your own goals and has a vast array of resources to offer, which she conveys with great compassion. She's wonderful, and I always recommend her. She's helped me, and continues to help me, in my early days of jazz and blues, which she's completely mastered. As I said, she's fabulous. If you have the chance, I wouldn't miss a class with her for anything.
-Monica Solaun, singer and actress
"Thrilled with her classes in jazz (piano and harmony) - she's the first teacher I've had who's been able to explain how things work and where I need to go with it. Many thanks"
- Javier Tapia, pianist
"Throughout my life I thought singing was a divine gift only a few had. Until I started taking classes with Nancy. She knows all you need to know to learn to sing, and she really knows how to teach."
- Julen Fernández, singer, flamenco guitarist
"The masterclass was brilliant - valuable information. Without a doubt I'll look for more opportunities to learn from her"
-Lydia Tune, pianist
"Nancy is very kind. It was a great pleasure, and I'm grateful for the masterclass! Hope to do it again, thank you!"
-Fredy Lane, bassist
"She's an example of a great professional, as well as being warm and kind. She made me feel comfortable and I still draw on what she taught me. Without a doubt I recommend her as a teacher."
-Fernando Molino Serrano, singer-songwriter and guitarist
"In addition to being one of the finest singers that I have worked with, she is a gifted multi–instrumentalist. In this business, the terms prima donna and diva are synonymous with female singers and tenors - I have worked with many, including the most world famous of them that I won’t mention, but working with Nancy is like a breath of fresh air."
-Joe Gianono, composer/ arranger (New York, USA)
