CRUISE SHIP GIGS FOR MUSICIANS
Tuesday, May 21, 2019 7 - 9 P.M.
Location: Ummagumma Rehearsal Studio, Calle Alora 11, Málaga
Talk will be in English and Spanish as needed.
Topics will include:
-kinds of gigs (solo, duos, trios, bands and guest entertainers) and how to prepare your repertoire/ promo
-what it's really like working on a cruise ship - life on board
-the difference between the various cruise lines
-how to find an agent
-how much money you can make
-and much more... plus your questions answered!
I'll be sharing information based on 20 years of performing as a musician (jazz vocalist, pianist, guest entertainer) on the following cruise lines: Celebrity, NCL, Crystal, Disney, Princess, Residensea, Holland America, Costa, Radisson, Renaissance, Silver Seas, Cunard, Seabourn, Regent and Oceana. I've been able to finance my studies at Berklee College of Music, as well as take extended time off each year to compose and manage my original jazz/ world music career thanks to the money I've made on ships. It's a great way to keep your chops up on your instrument, make contacts, and see the world. But there's a lot to learn about working at sea, so I'll go over all that in the class. I'm not affiliated with any companies or agents - just trying to help out fellow musicians who are looking for work.
